Laura Pearl, LCSW, trauma therapist in her Upper East Side NYC office

Meet Your Therapist

You've done what it takes to survive.

Maybe you've masked, over-functioned, dissociated, or stayed small. You've intellectualized the pain. Maybe you've even tried therapy before—and it helped, sort of. But something deeper still feels stuck.

Here, therapy isn't about performance. It's not about "fixing" yourself or rushing toward healing. It's about being with what's true—at a pace your body can trust.

I'm Laura Pearl, a licensed trauma therapist, somatic practitioner, and EMDR clinician. I practice in-person on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, in the Yorkville / Carnegie Hill area, and offer virtual sessions throughout New York State. I specialize in working with adults navigating complex trauma, neurodivergence, dissociation, and identity exploration. My practice is grounded in care that's relational, body-aware, and deeply attuned to the ways culture, power, and lived experience shape how we heal.

My Approach: Relational. Somatic. Identity-Informed.

At the core of my work is the belief that healing happens in connection—to your body, to your story, and to another person who's truly with you.

In our sessions, you can expect:

  • A calm, steady presence—no pressure to be "good at therapy"
  • A blend of talk, body-based work, formal trauma processing, and internal parts exploration
  • Tools for nervous system regulation, not just insight
  • Deep respect for your cultural, neurotype, and relational context
  • A pace that follows your readiness—not a treatment manual

I work from an anti-pathologizing lens, honoring your adaptations as wisdom—not dysfunction. You don't need a diagnosis to be here. You just need a desire for something different.

Who I Work With

Who I Work With

You Might Feel at Home Here If You:

  • Feel stuck in survival mode or emotionally disconnected
  • Have done years of therapy but still carry unprocessed pain
  • Are neurodivergent (formally diagnosed or self-identified)
  • Grew up with emotional neglect, enmeshment, or trauma
  • Are exploring gender, sexuality, or complex identity
  • Experience dissociation, memory gaps, or "parts" inside
  • Want to move beyond talk therapy and into the body

I specialize in supporting adults who have been overlooked or misunderstood by traditional therapy—folks who want to feel seen not just intellectually, but felt.
